"When Barry Sonnenfeld and Scott Rudin first asked me to write the score to The Addams Family I was sure of one thing...Danny Elfman must have said no! Seriously, Danny's darkly energetic scores "haunted" my creative germinations as did Vic Mizzy's own unforgettable themes for the original T.V. show. Eventually, my conscience, my ego and my lawyer all ganged up on me, forcing me to try to find my own way. Luckily, Barry's film was all the inspiration I needed. Could he, the whining, immature nebbish really have created this rich, romantic movie? And could I, an even bigger, whining, immature nebbish, write a score to complement it's wit and grace? You now, dear listener, will be the final judge.

I am so happy to be able to include the full length version of the "Mamushka". The excitement and honor of writing with such legendary talents as Adolph Green and Betty Comden was far and away the most thrilling part of writing this score". - Marc Shaiman
