"In making The American President, the biggest creative challange I had was to find a way to balance the romantic, comedic and political aspects of the film. Marc Shaiman faced that same challenge in composing the score.

To give the film a political weight and at the same time create a feeling of humor and romance was no easy task. As you listen to the score, I believe you will see that Marc was more than up to the challenge. His ability to get all the qualities I was looking for and do it with such grace and elegance does just what a good score should do: tastefully enhance the emotion and style of a film.

I was working with Marc because of this wonderful versatility and openness to collaboration. The partnership we've developed over the years is one of the most fun and fulfilling aspects of the filmmaking process." - Rob Reiner
